September’s Activites, a set on Flickr.

Just a quick peak at September’s activities. More pictures coming! (but not tonight it’s almost midnight and I’m exhausted!)

1st Day of Preschool!

1st Day of Preschool!, a set on Flickr.

I thought we should stand by the tree or something nice for the pictures, but he insisted on standing by the white pole by the garage. Such an appropriate thought for a 3 year old- it’s great! “Of course Mom, a pole is much cooler than a tree!”
Also, our goal is to ride his bike the full 1 mile to preschool- so far we have made it 1/2 mile. Not bad for a 3 year old.

Learning to sit

Found a new place to climb up and sit – but can’t figure out how to get down!

Monterey Bay 2011, a set on Flickr.

While my sister was visiting this summer we took our annual trip to Monterey Bay. Of course we visited the aquarium, ate seafood, and this time we found a Dennis the Menace Park. I thought it was quite fitting to have Eli stand by the sign (but you can see he thought slightly different). It had an old train car on the playground- we couldn’t get Eli off it the entire time. So the rest of us went exploring! It was a great playground with all kinds of fun climbing, mazes, sliding, etc structures! A definite one to put on the list for future visits!

Eli’s 3rd Birthday!

Eli’s 3rd Birthday!, a set on Flickr.

Finally, trying to update again.
We had a great birthday party for Eli this year. Thanks to everyone who came! Of course a rocket ship/airplane theme with plenty of flying toys and games at the park. Biggest drawback was the sunny heat that day (mental note- next time bring shade!). Despite that I think everyone had fun. The cake turned out well- if I do say so myself- and it was fun to make!

Toddler language

So the other day Eli said “I want to die! I want to die!”

Ryan and I look at each other in disbeleif. What is he really saying? Surely that’s not what our 3 year old is meaning to say! We tried guessing other words that sound like ‘die’ but were not getting very far.

Finally, Eli said “Die Olly, Die.” (This is in reference to a favorite cartoon “Dive Olly.”)

–> Dive NOT Die! Thank goodness!

We had a fun-filled day on the 4th. Started with a pancake breakfast at our church. This was followed by a group of kids (5-8 y/o) playing basketball. Eli had no hesitation joining in. Since he was too little to get the ball away, he would hold onto the bigger kids legs and try to take them down. We had to laugh at his assertivness! Luckily the older boys were very nice and willing to play with him. Then we joined some friends in a waterfight. Even the little kids got in on the action. We took a hike on the top of the mountains that afternoon. Finally, that night we got to watch the fireworks right on our front porch!
